Registration for 2024-25 DYA Recreational Basketball begins June 15.

The information below is from 2023-24 Rec Basketball. 2024-25 Rec Basketball information will be posted later this spring. The program will be structured similarly to 2023-24.

2023-2024 Recreational Basketball - Program Information

2023-2024 DYA Recreational Basketball

The DYA Recreational Baseball program is open to 1st through 12th grade boys & girls and consists of 16 divisions. Players must be registered to play with their grade level.

Space may be limited. Sign-ups are on a first-come basis. Once individual leagues are filled and a waiting list forms, please continue to express your interest by signing up on the waiting list. If we are able to have enough players, coaches, and gym space to expand the league before the league meetings, we will make every attempt to do so.

Sign up if your child is trying out for their middle school or high school basketball team. If your child makes their school team, we will issue you a refund.

Additional information for each division:

1st & 2nd Grade Boys & Girls Leagues:
Teams are scheduled for 10 practices and games. Practices and games for the 1st & 2nd grade leagues are held back-to-back on Saturday mornings or afternoons beginning December 2. The 1st & 2nd grade programs are developmental leagues. Practices/games are held at Dublin elementary school gymnasiums: Bailey, Chapman, Deer Run, Depp, Glacier Ridge, Hopewell, Indian Run, Olde Sawmill, Pinney, Riverside, Scottish Corners, Thomas, Wright, and Wyandot. The season is scheduled to end on February 17.

3rd-5th Grade Boys & Girls Leagues:
Teams are scheduled for 15 practices and 10 games. Weekly 1-hour practices are held on weeknights beginning the week of October 23. Practice night (Monday-Friday) and time (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM) vary from week to week. Games are played on Saturday mornings or early afternoons beginning December 2. Practices/games are held at Dublin elementary school gymnasiums: Bailey, Chapman, Deer Run, Depp, Glacier Ridge, Hopewell, Indian Run, Olde Sawmill, Pinney, Riverside, Scottish Corners, Thomas, Wright, and Wyandot. The season is scheduled to end on February 17.

6th Grade Boys League:
Teams are scheduled for 15 practices and 9 games plus a postseason tournament. Weekly 1-hour practices are held on weeknights beginning the week of October 23. Practice night (Monday-Friday) and time (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM) vary from week to week. Practices are held at Dublin elementary school gymnasiums: Bailey, Chapman, Deer Run, Depp, Glacier Ridge, Hopewell, Indian Run, Olde Sawmill, Pinney, Riverside, Scottish Corners, Thomas, Wright, and Wyandot. Games are played on Saturday mornings or afternoons beginning December 2. Games are played primarily at Dublin middle school gymnasiums: Davis, Eversole Run, Grizzell, Karrer, and Sells. The postseason tournament is scheduled to end by March 2.

7th Grade Boys & 8th Grade Boys Leagues:
Teams are scheduled for up to 13 practices and 9 games plus a postseason tournament. Weekly 1-hour practices are held on weeknights beginning the week of November 13. Practice night (Monday-Friday) and time (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM) vary from week to week. Practices are held at Dublin elementary school gymnasiums: Bailey, Chapman, Deer Run, Depp, Glacier Ridge, Hopewell, Indian Run, Olde Sawmill, Pinney, Riverside, Scottish Corners, Thomas, Wright, and Wyandot. 9th/10th Grade Boys & 11th/12th Grade Boys Leagues:
Teams are scheduled for 9 games plus a postseason tournament. Games are played on Saturday afternoons or early evenings beginning December 2. Games are played at Dublin middle school and high school gymnasiums: Davis, Eversole Run, Grizzell, Karrer, Sells, Coffman, Jerome, and Scioto. The postseason tournaments are scheduled to end by March 2.

6th-8th Grade Girls League:
Teams are scheduled for 12 practices and 9 games plus a postseason tournament. Weekly 1-hour practices are held on weeknights beginning the week of November 13. Practice night (Monday-Friday) and time (6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 8:00 PM) vary from week to week. Practices are held at Dublin elementary school gymnasiums: Bailey, Chapman, Deer Run, Depp, Glacier Ridge, Hopewell, Indian Run, Olde Sawmill, Pinney, Riverside, Scottish Corners, Thomas, Wright, and Wyandot. Games are played on Sunday afternoons or early evenings beginning December 3. Games are played at Dublin middle school gymnasiums: Davis, Eversole Run, Grizzell, Karrer, and Sells. 9th-12th Grade Girls League:
Teams are scheduled for 9 games plus a postseason tournament. Games are played on Sunday afternoons or early evenings beginning December 3. Games are played at Dublin middle school gymnasiums: Davis, Eversole Run, Grizzell, Karrer, and Sells. The postseason tournament is scheduled to end by March 3.

Winter Break: No practices or games are scheduled from December 21 through January 3.

League Fees:
Boys & Girls Grades 1-2 fee is $125*, plus a jersey, if you need one.
Boys 3rd-6th Grade & Girls 3rd-12th Grade fee is $150*, plus a jersey, if you need one.
Boys 7th-12th Grade fee is $175*, plus a jersey, if you need one.
*An additional $20 was added to league fees on September 18.

Jersey Information: All players are required to wear the green/white DYA Basketball reversible jersey for league play. The jersey is the same as prior years and is $20 to purchase. Sizes available: Youth-Small, Youth-Medium, Youth-Large, Adult-Small, Adult-Medium, Adult-Large, Adult-XL, and Adult-XXL.

Teammate/Coach Requests: Teams in the 3rd grade & younger leagues are assigned by the league office and all teammate/coach requests are usually able to be granted. For 4th grade and older leagues, DYA will honor up to two teammate requests per player. These requests must be mutual to be considered.
The intent is to help kids play with their friends. DYA reserves the right to place limits on requests if the rules are being utilized to build teams for reasons other than stated. Be sure to include any teammate/coach requests on the registration form. To add teammate/coach requests after registering, email the DYA Office at [email protected].

Team Notification: Families will be notified of their team placement, roster, and practice schedule a day or two following the preseason coaches' meetings. See below for coaches' meeting dates.

Coaches Needed: Dublin Youth Athletics is a volunteer organization of parents providing sports programs for kids. If you are able and willing to serve as the head or assistant coach of your child's team, please register online by clicking "Volunteer" on your profile page at DYA.com.

Preseason Coaches' Clinic: The preseason coaches' clinic for Recreational Basketball is scheduled for Sunday, October 8, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Just Hoops - Dublin (8500 Warner Rd Suite 100). Attendance is strongly encouraged for all 1st-6th grade coaches.

Picture Day: 
Boys 4th-6th Grade Leagues & Girls 1st-3rd Grade Leagues: Saturday, December 2
Boys 1st-3rd Grade Leagues & Girls 4th-5th Grade Leagues: Saturday, December 9
Girls 6th-8th Grade League: Sunday, January 7

Pictures take place at the school where your game that day is scheduled. The photographers kindly ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to game time to take individual photos. Team photos will be taken on the court immediately before your game begins as soon as the previous game concludes. Photographers will have extra order forms available on Picture Day. Picture Day services are provided by Midwest Photo.

Medals/Trophies:
1st-5th Grade: Participation medals are awarded to all players at the end of the season.
6th-12th Grade: Trophies or medals are awarded to players on all postseason tournament champion & runner-up teams.

Basketball size: 1st-8th Grade Boys and all Girls Leagues use the 28.5'' basketball (women's size ball). 9th-12th Grade Boys Leagues use the 29.5'' basketball.

Basket height: 1st-2nd Grade Boys & Girls Leagues play with baskets at 8 feet. The 3rd Grade Girls League plays with baskets at 9 feet. All other leagues play with baskets at 10 feet.

Basketball Officials & Scorekeepers:
Games in the 3rd-6th Grade Boys Leagues & 3rd-5th Grade Girls Leagues are officiated by Youth Officials.
Games in the 7th-12th Grade Boys & 6th-12th Grade Girls Leagues are officiated by Adult Officials.
DYA employs Youth Scorekeepers to operate the scoreboard.

Sign-ups to become an official or scorekeeper take place from June-November.

Tournament Information (6th-12th grade):
The Opening Round of DYA Rec Basketball League Tournaments are scheduled for following dates:
6th-12th Grade Boys Leagues - Saturday, February 17 (brackets set the week of February 4)
6th-12th Grade Girls Leagues - Sunday, February 18 (brackets set the week of February 4)

All teams should plan to play in the Opening Round of the tournament. Teams will keep playing for 1-2 additional weeks after the Opening Round if they continue to win games in the tournament.

Do you reside outside of DYA boundaries?: This program is open to all families residing within the boundaries of the Dublin City School District or within the City of Dublin. Out of boundary families may participate if there is space available in the program.

All facilities have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) available in case of emergency. AEDs are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly.

Basketball Officials & Scorekeepers

Youth Basketball Officials & Scorekeepers:

Youth Officials (8th-12th graders) referee games in the 3rd-6th Grade Boys & 3rd-5th Grade Girls Recreational Basketball Leagues.

Youth Scorekeepers work as scoreboard operators for games in the 7th-12th Grade Boys & 6th-12th Grade Girls Recreational Basketball Leagues.
