Frequently Asked Questions

Registration

How do I register my child for a DYA program?

All registrations are completed online through the DYA website at www.dya.com. Registration links for each sport are posted on the corresponding sport page when registration is open.

Can I request that my child play with a specific teammate?

Yes. During online registration there is a Teammate Request section where you may enter the name of up to TWO players your child would like to be paired with. DYA makes every effort to honor requests but cannot guarantee them. Requests must be submitted during registration and are subject to roster sizes, balanced teams, and coach availability. Tip: The request must be mutual

Can I add a teammate request after I submit my registration?

Teammate requests should be entered during registration. After your registration is submitted, you would need to email us at Office@dya.com in order to make a teammate request. Once teams have been finalized, requests generally cannot be added or changed.

I cannot get into my TeamSnap account.

Support is best received by using the Help widget within your account. But if you cannot get into your account, visit https://helpme.teamsnap.com/ and look for the orange Help button in the bottom corner.

Recreational vs. Competitive Programs

What is the difference between Recreational and Travel/Select programs?

Recreational programs focus on skill development and participation. Travel/Select programs involve a higher level of competition, additional practices, tournament play, and a greater time commitment.

Does DYA offer Travel Sports?

Yes. DYA offers Travel Baseball, Select Softball, Lacrosse and Basketball for players seeking a more competitive experience, advanced competition and tournament play.

How are players selected for travel sports?

Players selected through an evaluation process prior to the season beginning.

Eligibility & Residency

Who is eligible to participate in DYA programs?

DYA serves families in the Dublin area and surrounding communities. Eligibility requirements vary by sport. There are varying fee structures depending on whether you are a Dublin City resident, a non-resident whose children go to Dublin City Schools, or a non-resident who lives outside the city and school boundaries.

Teams & Evaluations

How are recreational teams formed?

Teams are formed with the goal of creating balanced competition while considering age, experience, and coach availability.

Why don't players move up to the next division in the fall?

DYA keeps players in the same division they played during the previous Spring season, even though they've advanced grades in school. The Fall season is much shorter and includes fewer practices, so players stay with their current level to continue building confidence and skills.

Players move up to the next division in the spring, when there are more practices and a longer season to help them learn new rules and develop the skills needed for the next level of play.

Can my child participate in a division above their age or grade level?

All players participating in DYA sports must register according to their current age or grade level, as defined by the specific sport’s division structure. Players are not permitted to register for or be placed in a division above their eligible age or grade level during the registration process.

Requests from parents or guardians to place a player in a higher age or grade division before registration will not be considered or approved. The following exceptions may be made:

  • You are coaching your child’s team, and you would like the sibling to play up one grade/age level.
  • At the discretion of the program director for the specific sport, a player may be moved up one level to address safety concerns.

Do travel/select teams require tryouts?

Yes. Travel Baseball, Select Softball, Travel Boys & Girls Lacrosse, and Travel Basketball require evaluations or tryouts.

Practices & Games

When will I hear from my coach?

After registration closes and teams are finalized. The coaches’ meetings happen approximately 1-2 weeks before the season begins and you should hear from the coaches within a few days after that meeting takes place.

How often are practices held?

You can find the sport specific schedules on the program page. Practice frequency varies by sport and program level.

When are game schedules posted?

After teams have been formed and facilities assigned.

Weather & Cancellations

How will I know if practices or games are canceled?

Weather cancellations are communicated through DYA's website, email notifications, and team communication platform. Weather – Dublin Youth Athletics
