2026 BASEBALL/SOFTBALL YOUTH UMPIRES
DYA Baseball/Softball Youth Umpires Registration for the Spring/Summer season is CLOSED as preseason training is underway.
Umpire registration for the Fall 2026 season begins in Summer 2026.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
The DYA Youth Umpires program is open to 7th-12th graders who reside in the City of Dublin or within the Dublin City School District boundaries. Umpires work DYA Baseball & Softball Recreational League games.
New umpires must pass a baseball/softball rules test to become an umpire. Study material (DYA Umpire Study Guide & DYA Baseball/Softball Rules) is available. Applicants must score at least 75% to pass the test. A retake may be offered based on the need for umpires.
2026 Spring/Summer season: Umpires work 3rd-8th grade DYA Baseball & Softball Recreational League games. Regular season games begin May 2 and the postseason tournament concludes by June 27. Games are played weeknights (Monday-Thursday) and Saturdays at Avery Park in Dublin.
2026 Fall season: Umpires work 4th-9th grade DYA Fall Baseball & Softball League games. The fall season is early September through mid-October. Games are played on weeknights (Monday-Thursday) at Avery Park in Dublin. Games begin between 5:30 PM and 7:15 PM.
Additional information regarding training clinics will be e-mailed to all registered applicants as the season approaches.

• Friday, April 17 from 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM at DYA Office
• Saturday, April 18 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at DYA Office
• Saturday, April 25 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at DYA Office
New Umpires Training: Part 2 - On Field Training (attend only one date)
• Sunday, April 19 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Avery Park Diamond #8
• Sunday, April 26 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Avery Park Diamond #8
New Umpires Training: Part 3 – On Field Training & Equipment Distribution
• Sunday, April 26 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Avery Park Diamond #8
New Umpires Training: Part 4 - Informational Meeting & Online Scheduling Tutorial (attend only one date)
• Sunday, April 26 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DYA Office
• Monday, April 27 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DYA Office
The Part 4 training session is for both the Umpire and only one Parent (the one who manages their schedule). Attend only one date.
Returning Umpires

• Sunday, April 19 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Avery Park Diamond #8
• Sunday, April 26 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Avery Park Diamond #8
Concussion Certification: Ohio Law requires all umpires to be certified in concussion recognition. The free online certification course takes about 30 minutes to complete and is found at http://nfhslearn.com/courses/concussion-in-sports-2. Upon completion of the course, a certificate is issued. Concussion certification is valid for three years.
