Developmental Basketball League
The Developmental Basketball League is for students in grades
1 and 2.
We are planning the format as follows:
Dates for girls division: Nov 3, 10 ,17; Dec 1, 8, 15
Dates for boys division: Jan 5, 12, 19, 26; Feb 2, 9
Location: Eli Pinney and Daniel Wright
Times: One hour each week. 900, 1000, 1100am, noon, 100, 200, 300, 400,
500, or 600 o'clock.
Clinic instruction for the first 30 minutes of each week.
Games with a 20 minute running clock starting at the end of the clinic at the
bottom of the hour. 30 second break for subs at the 15, 10,
and 5 minute mark of game.
Games are 3-on-3, half-court to start. We will monitor progress and
consider full court for the last two weeks.
Ideally, 5 on each team, but final numbers will dictate whether 4, 5, or 6 on
each team.
Baskets set at the lowest height, 8 feet.
Parents must volunteer to be a coach, official, or clock
operator.
Fees are posted at the online registration
page and will cover gym rent, participation medals, and administrative costs.
The jersey will be a separate purchase and will not be included in the fee.
Thus, if you happen to have
a jersey from an older child, you can use that and not bear the
expense of a new one. Similarly, if you buy one this year and can use it
next, you will not have to make that purchase next year.
Thank you for your interest and thank you in advance for making this program
available for your kids. Without your volunteering to coach,
officiate, and run the clock, we don't have a program.
Sign ups begin in July and are on a first come
basis. Once the league is filled, players can be added to the waiting
list. If we have enough gym space, coaches, and players before the league
meeting, we may add teams, but only before the league meeting in January.
After the league meeting, schedules are set and we will not add new teams.
